Who We Are

TRAIN has been working with young people in South Oxfordshire for more than 20 years. We’re embedded in the everyday spaces where young people spend their time, and we have strong connections with schools and local organisations where we work in Didcot and Wallingford.

TRAIN started in response to a lack of consistent, community-based provision for young people, and over the last two decades our work has adapted to continue filling the gaps left by cuts in government funding.

We are rooted in voluntary, relationship-based youth work. Young people choose to engage with us, and the relationships they build with our team are based on trust, not authority. As a result, over time we see young people growing in confidence, re-engaging with education, and building more positive futures.

TRAIN is a shining light of youth work in Oxfordshire. The variety of services, the passionate and well equipped team and the position as a traditional but forward thinking youth work service are a real asset for the young people in Didcot and surrounding areas.

With huge thanks to our partners

Our work is made possible through the support of a diverse group of partners who collaborate with us to champion young people in South Oxfordshire. Whether that’s Oxford United in the Community partnering with us to run weekly football sessions for young people, Wallingford Town Council offering us the use of their former offices so we could expand our work into Wallingford, running sailing voyages for young people with Morning Star Trust, or partnering with Oxfordshire Youth to deliver schools programmes – our partnerships are proactive and positive, and have a real impact for under-served young people in Didcot and Wallingford.
